SUCCESS: Application withdrawn for proposed free range egg factory in Seymour

THANK YOU to everyone who sent an objection against the proposed free range egg laying factory in Seymour. The Mitchell Shire Council has informed us that the applicant has withdrawn the application. This decision is no doubt due to the widespread opposition to the proposed "intensive animal husbandry".

ALV often gets complaints from neighbours of these 'free range' egg factories telling us the hens are seldom outside. Free range eggs still cause the hens ongoing suffering and every hen will still end up at the slaughterhouse. While the term 'free range' is used to make consumers feel like they are buying 'happy eggs', the truth is that these birds are treated as mere commodities and will be killed when they are no longer making a profit.
