RSPCA Protest

RSPCA protestLast Friday night over 30 protesters held a solemn candlelight vigil outside the RSPCA Gala Ball. The vigil was in honor of all the animals who have died to raise money for the RSPCA and to launch a new RSPCA watchdog website www.rspcawatchdog.org. Two opera singers, Bec and Sheanna, gave homage to the animals who lost their lives for the RSPCA's Gala Ball, while activists stood in silence, holding candles in their memory and wearing dinner shirts dripped in symbolic blood. Australian Associated Press picked up three photos of the protest on their wire service. Last year the UK RSPCA passed a resolution that their AGMs would be strictly vegan. HSUS, the largest animal protection group in the world also has a policy to never serve dead animals at any of their functions. ALV is asking that RSPCA Australia follow the compassionate lead of their sister organisations and stop serving dead animals at their events.
