About ALV

ALV COMMITTEE MEMBERS 2008.

The committee of Animal Liberation Victoria manages all affairs of the organisation and is elected at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) usually held in October each year. The committee consists of the President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer plus four general committee members. Members must have twelve months active participation in the organisation to be eligible to run for committee. The committee for the year 2008 are:

PRESIDENT
Noah Hannibal

Noah has had a lifetime involvement in ALV, attending his first protest at age three and never looking back. He runs the ALV office and is an active member of the rescue team. He is also a photographer whose photos of rescues and protests regularly run in magazines and newspapers worldwide. Noah runs the Go Veg! campaign in addition to several other ALV campaigns.

 
VICE PRESIDENT
Patty Mark

Patty is the founder of Animal Liberation Victoria (1978) and has been actively involved in the Australian animal rights movement for over 30 years. She is also the founding (1980) editor of Action Magazine, as well as the director of the ALV Open Rescue Team. Patty is a committed vegan who worked as a professional therapist in the field of mental health prior to her work for animals.
 
SECRETARY
Sally Brien

Sally Brien, vegan and a committed animal rights advocate, is an active participant at ALV demonstrations and speaks out strongly for the animals. Coming from a management, training and recruitment background, her knowledge and organisational skills have been also been instrumental in the development and successful launch of the ALV Member’s Meetings. The meetings have seen many new members welcomed to our organisation in the fight for animal rights - something she is truly passionate about. Sally believes volunteers are vital to the ongoing success of ALV and she has been actively helping to provide information and coordinate volunteers. Her aim in 2008 is to continue in this direction and develop volunteer members within ALV to ensure the strength of the animal rights voice is heard loud and strong. Sally is also one of the co-ordinators of the ALV/CCF Super Live Expo.

 
TREASURER
Silvia Gonzalez
Silvia has been a member of ALV since 1995 when she joined as a fifteen year old. Since that time she has become a veteran member of the ALV Open rescue team, travelling around Victoria and Australia to take part in investigations and rescues at factory farms, and active participant in numerous campaigns and protests. Silvia is a regular volunteer in the ALV office and has sat on committee as a general member and treasurer since 2003.
 

COMMITTEE MEMBERS

 
June Ball
June joined ALV in 1981 and has been active in the animal rights movement ever since. June has demonstrated her abilities as team player and her community spirit by serving as a committee member for many organisations including Feminists for Animal Rights, Animal Liberation Victoria, Animal Rights, and Choose Cruelty Free. June came up with Australia's first "I'd rather go naked than wear fur" poster campaign in 2003 and has been behind the anti-experimental 'How would you feel if they did it to you?' (pus-face) campaign. June has been Co-Organiser of the joint ALV/CCF annual Super Living Expo for the past three years and will continue to do so. June is a vegan and an abolitionist.
 
Erik Gorton
Erik has been an active member of ALV for five years and has been involved on the rescue team and volunteering in the office. Erik helps run an animal sanctuary for rescued animals. He is a committed abolitionist vegan who has total commitment to the ALV rescue team’s strong work. Erik is a graphic designer and his exceptional skills have aided ALV in the production of powerful posters and literature. He is currently in the process of designing new promotional materials for ALV.
 
Judy Kasputtis
Judy has a longstanding background in nursing (over 25 years), business and has been a supporter of ALV for almost 20 years. She has served on ALV Committee for several years including two years as Honorary Secretary. ALV's open rescue efforts are most important to her and she has been an integral member of ALV's rescue team, assisting in the important tasks of surveillance, documentation, taking rescued animals to the vet, rehousing rescued animals and helping in organising copying of footage. She participates in most of the campaigns, protests, letter writing and urgent background work that comes up all the time in an organisation such as ALV, and is always on call to help if needed
 
Jamie Yew

Jamie is a passionate advocate for abolitionist animal rights who regularly participates in, and helps organise, ALV's protests that receive media for animals around the world. She is also a committed member of the open rescue team. Her animal rights activism has seen her featured in mainstream magazines like Cosmopolitan and Rolling Stone, and numerous other publications around the world, helping spread the message of animal rights to a global audience. Jamie works as a social worker in a crisis centre and is also one of the co-ordinators of Animal Liberation Youth.
